Hamline School of Education alum meeting with President Obama

Hamline School of Education alumna, adjunct faculty member, and Minnesota Teacher of the Year Dr. Amy Hewett-Olatunde EdD '15 was in Washington D.C. this week to meet with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden as part of National Teacher Appreciation Week 2016.

On May 2, Hewett-Olatunde visited the Bidens' home to meet the vice president and his wife, former high school English teacher, Dr. Jill Biden. On May 3, Hewett-Olatunde took part in the White House Teacher Recognition Ceremony. In her brief meeting with President Obama, she talked about the education needs of Minnesota's Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) population.
