The Minnesota State Bar Association
(MSBA) recently recognized Hamline Law School
Dean Jean Holloway as a North Star Lawyer for her contribution of pro bono legal services to low income clients.
The North Star Lawyer recognition honors lawyers who contribute at least 50 hours of pro bono legal counsel to low income people in the state of Minnesota. In total, the 952 North Star Lawyers honored this year have generously donated more than 108,500 hours of their time and talent during the 2013 calendar year. That is estimated to be upwards of $21,700,000 in free legal help. The MSBA has over 16,000 members, and is the state’s largest voluntary organization of attorneys.
“I am so proud of the over 950 members of the Minnesota State Bar Association who have delivered these pro bono services to Minnesotans in need,” MSBA President Phil Duran said in a press release. “It is their dedication and generosity that ensures that so many people can get the only access to justice they can obtain.”
