was recognized yet again by Finance and Commerce
magazine. The news outlet recognized Minnesota’s top construction projects with the Anderson Center being a top project of 2012.Finance & Commerce's
sixth annual top projects award series highlights the year's most unique and ambitious construction projects in the industry. The article points to the Anderson Center’s innovative green roof and environmentally-friendly design as setting it apart from other projects.
In March, the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) recognized the Anderson Center and its architect, Shepley Bulfinch, with a 2013 Facility Design Award of Excellence. The Anderson Center was chosen from applicants around the world not only because of its appearance, but also for the design process and how it has impacted campus.
In April, the Anderson Center was featured in Green Building & Design Magazine
. The article highlighted the building’s many environmentally-friendly features and its focus on creating and sustaining community among students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.
The center was built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver standards and features "green" elements such as solar panels, high performance glass and lighting, site-harvested wood, and recycled building materials.
The Anderson Center, which was officially dedicated in October of 2012
, has become a hub of activity on campus and created a variety of spaces for the Hamline community to build strong connections.
