Child Advocacy Clinic - Students File Amicus Brief

Hamline School of Law students Jenna (Doughman) Skees, Sarah Anderson, and Nysha Cornelius worked with Professor Mary Jo Hunter as the amicus brief team of the Child Advocacy Clinic. The finished brief was filed with the U.S. Supreme Court regarding the case, Adoptive Couple v. Baby Girl, a minor child under the age of fourteen years, Birth Father, and the Cherokee Nation.

Assistant Professor Ann Tweedy also participated in the drafting of another brief for the same case along with other federal Indian law professors. This latter brief was coordinated by UCLA. Both briefs, along with a collection of other amicus briefs related to the case, are available on the Turtle Talk blog at "Adoptive Couple v. Baby Girl Amicus Briefs Supporting Respondents."
