Jordan Sammons (21) is already busy working on her winter sport -- basketball. But she may take a time out to celebrate a rare fall exploit. The sophomore became the first Piper women's soccer player ever to be named to a NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association) post-season entity when she was named to the All-North third team announced today.
Although officially listed as playing on defense, Sammons went wherever coach Ted Zingman needed her. She played midfield and forward in addition to her defensive duties. The Apple Valley, Minn. native scored four goals, including a pair of game winners as the Pipers rattled off a school record 12 victories in 2012. One of those game winners came September 25 when the Pipers ended a five-year drought with a 1-0 win over St. Olaf. She was named to the All-MIAC team in November.
