Jordan Sammons bet 1112

Jordan Sammons showed off her shooting touch and Rachel Usgaard made a rebounding statement. But the Pipers had second half shooting struggles and fell to Wis-Stout, 62-56, in Milwaukee Saturday afternoon.

Sammons was 9-for-16 form the field and scored 21 points to lead HU, which fell to 0-2 on the season. Steph Pilgrim, who had 16 points on Friday night in a 58-53 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran, came back with 15 for the Pipers. Usgaard contributed a team high 10 rebounds and added three steals in 28 minutes coming off the bench.

Hamline jumped to a  23-11 lead in the first 12 minutes of play only to see UWS rally to cut the margin to 31-30 at halftime. In the second half, HU kept the lead until a Whitney Rawdon jumper put the Blue Devils ahead with 4;19 to play. A Sammons layup tied it up at 54 but Stout scored the next four points and pulled away on four free throws in the final minute.

Hamline is off until November 28 when they open MIAC play at St. Benedict.
