Hamline freshman winger Brandon Zurn continues to make a name for himself. The Mahtomedi, MN native had a goal and an assist Friday in the men's hockey team's 5-2 loss to St. Olaf at Vadnais Heights.
The Pipers (0-6-1, 0-3 MIAC) got of to slow start and trailed 2-0 with less than five minutes gone in the game. They stayed even the rest of the period and chopped the Ole lead in half when Zurn fired a shot that was stopped but Zach Johnson redirected the rebound home at 3:16 of the second period.
The Oles, who scored twice 12 seconds apart in the first frame, got two within three minutes in the second to push the lead to 4-1.
Zurn made it interesting when he broke free and drilled a shot off the goalpost and in the net at 13:02 of the third. But HU could get no closer and the Oles put the game out of reach with a goal at 19:00.
Hamline outshot St. Olaf, 29-27 for the game but to no avail.
The teams meet again Saturday in Northfield. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
