Women's Soccer Looks To Keep Playoff Hopes Alive Against Blazers

There will be a lot going on at Paterson Field this afternoon. The Hamline women's soccer team hopes to keep its playoff hopes alive when they tangle with St. Benedict in a 3:30 p.m. game.

The Pipers have already set a school record with an overall 11-4-1 mark. But they stand 4-4-1 (13 points) in the MIAC and that places them in a three-way tie for sixth place in the league.

However, their opponent today holds that playoff spot with just 16 points. Since you get three for a win (and one for a tie), it is easy to see the importance of the game. Hamline needs a little help to make the playoffs at this point. But they can certainly aid their own cause with a win today and one in the season finale Saturday at St. Catherine.

Before that happens, however, they will bid a farewell to three seniors -- Izzy Benjamin-Alvarado, Kelsey Caracciolo and Emily Stein -- who will play their final game at Paterson. This hardy trio have been here for four years and have played a major role in Hamline's rise in women's soccer in the MIAC. Their contributions will be remembered for years to come.

Weather permitting, a live stats feed of the game will be available in the usual place.
