It already has been a women's soccer season that with many good moments. Add October 16, 2012 to the list. The Pipers defeated Wis-Stout, 3-1, Tuesday night in Menominie, Wis. It gave them their 11th overall victory of the season, setting a new school standard.

But that is only half the story.

Earlier in the day, the Pipers learned they are ranked No. 8 this week in the NSCAA North Region D-III poll. Only two MIAC schools -- first place Concordia and Augsburg (6th) drew nods ahead of HU. And the Pipers get a chance to do something about the latter when they meet the Auggies in Minneapolis Friday night at 7:30 p.m. (To see the entire NSCAA North Region poll, click here.)

As for the game in Menominie, goals by Eden Behrens and Aileen Scheibner (pictured) four minutes apart in the first 21 minutes of play helped the Pipers jump to a quick two goal lead. An own goal 11 minutes later made it 3-0. Behrens' goal was her first collegiate tally. Scheibner scored her ninth of the season -- one off the MIAC lead in that department.

The Blue Devils scored in the second half but the Pipers held on from there to improve their overall record to 11-3-1 on the season. Molly Jacobs recorded three saves in goal.
