Volleyballers Face Rubber Match With Luther

Crown celebration

Hamline will see its perfect record in tournament action gets its severest test yet this weekend. And the first of those tests will be a team they know well. The Pipers face Luther at 5;30 p.m. today at Mitchell Hall at Wis-LaCrosse to kick off a four-match weekend. It's the third time this year the sides have met. HU defeated the Norse, 3-2 in a tournament at St. Kate's a month ago. The Iowans returned the favor with a 3-1 decision last Saturday at Hutton Arena.

The task gets even tougher from there for the Pipers, who are 14-8 on the season. At 7:30 p.m. tonight, they face Wis-Superior, who stands 16-10 and has victories over St. Mary's, St. Kate's and Carleton. On Saturday, Oct. 13, it's another twinbill starting with a 10:30 a.m. duel with the host Eagles (12-11 on the season). The weekend wraps up with a 2:30 p.m. affair with Loras (9-12).

Hamline has swept all four matches it has played in all three tournaments they have played in this year. They resume MIAC play on October 19 at Macalester. For information on all the action in this weekend's tournament, click here.
