Soccer Team Resume MIAC Sked Against Scots

Bri Garside

It will be a battle of Snelling Ave. neighbors on a soccer Saturday, September 22 when the Pipers face Macalester.

The women host the Scots at Paterson Field in a 1:00 p.m. game. The men play a prime time game at Macalester Saturday night (7:30 p.m.)

The HU women's team stands 5-1-1 overall but just 0-1-1 in the MIAC. On Tuesday, the Pipers shut down Northwestern (Minn.) in nearly every fact of the game en route to a 3-0 victory. All five HU wins have come via shutouts. The Pipers also continue to be tough to handle at Paterson Field. They have lost just once there in the last two seasons. The Scots are 4-3 overall but improved to 1-1 in the MIAC after a 5-0 win over Augsburg Wednesday night. A live stats of the game is available through the link on the front page of the website.

The men's team (2-5-1) finally got some rest after playing three games in four days. The last of those games was a 1-0 loss at Northwestern Tuesday. Two days before, HU had their best win of the season with a 3-2 home field triumph over previously undefeated Buena Vista. Macalester has been a traditional power in MIAC men's soccer. But they have struggled for goals this year and stand 0-6-1 overall (0-1 MIAC).
