Beth Rittler Bjork, a four-letter
winner in her athletic days at Hamline, has been named Assistant Athletic
Director for Business Operations at the school.
“Beth probably knows more about the
inner workings of this department than anybody on campus. I couldn't have asked for a better
person to assist me day to day during my first stint as AD,” said Jason Verdugo, HU athletic director.. “She is an invaluable help to me. I'm truly grateful for her consistent work ethic and
commitment to improve the quality of Hamline Athletics in every way. We
are fortunate to have her.”
Rittler
Bjork is responsible for business management of the athletic department as well
as student staffing at Walker Fieldhouse. In addition, she is a longtime
member of the Piper Athletic Association.
A member of the athletic department administration since 2005, Rittler Bjork
has been serving as the athletic budget director since July 1, 2008. As part of
her duties, she also served as the senior woman administrator for the Pipers
for the 2007-08 academic year.
As
a student-athlete at Hamline University, she was a four-year letter winner in
swimming, winning All-MIAC and Honorable Mention honors as part of a Piper
contingent that was a consistent challenger for the MIAC Championship. Rittler
Bjork earned four Honorable Mention All-American honors in 1987 and 1988.
Prior
to coming to work at Hamline, Bjork served as treasurer and assistant coach for
Star Swim Club, Inc. Additionally, she worked for many years in human
resources as well as operations management for a small biotechnology firm based
in Arden Hills, Minn.
The Burlington, Iowa native graduated in 1991 with a degree in Management and
Psychology.
She and her husband, Steve, are the parents of two
children – Erin, who will be a freshman at George Washington University in
Washington, DC and Ben, who will be a freshman at St. Thomas Academy.
