Hamline announces new liaison for the Hamline and Teach for America partnership.
The Teacher Education Department is pleased to announce that Lisa Burton will serve as the Hamline-Teach For America liaison for the 2012-2013 academic year. She primarily will serve the incoming 2012 TFA Corps Members.
Burton is currently an adjunct instructor for the Teacher Education Department, where she has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in educational psychology and elementary methods. She has also supervised student-teachers for the MAT program.
Burton
is finishing her doctorate at the University of Minnesota in Comparative and International Development Education. She also does consulting for various international development projects related to educational quality and access.
"We are very pleased that Professor Burton will be serving in this critical role," says Rachel Endo, Chair, and Bill Lindquist, Associate Chair, both of the Teacher Education Department. "She is an outstanding teacher who has a strong command of best practices in education. We are are thrilled that she will be part of our efforts with TFA to collaborate on curriculum revisions and program improvement that will directly align with the School of Education's commitment to prepare teachers to work effectively with underserved populations."
