When Hamline's track and field teams finished so strongly at NCAA D-III Track and Field Championships last month, it did more than just end the athletic year on a positive note. It helped elevate HU ... and the MIAC ... into the upper level of all D-III athletic programs.
Hamline's total of 168.50 points was good enough to finish in a tie for 117th place (out of a field of 317 programs) in the final Learfield Cup standings. The Pipers received 42 points for their 28th place finish on the women's side and 62 points for their 12th place effort on the men's side. That ranked third best (behind St. Thomas and Gustavus) among all MIAC schools for the spring season.
As a conference, the MIAC fared quite well with all its schools finishing in the top 187 spots.
