Coyle-Kramer Go 1-2 at Augustana

They hope it is a sign of things to come. Brenna Coyle and Shawny Kramer went 1-2 in the Hammer Throw at the Augie Qualifier May 18 at Augustana College (Ill). Coyle, a senior, threw 170-04 to edge out her freshman teammate, who finished at 167-01. Both seem safe bets to make the NCAA field of 22. The pair are ranked in the top 10 nationally in that event.

Becky Culp finished third in the Shot Put (43-05.25) and fourth in the Discus (141-11). The junior ranks a nervous 19th in the Shot but a solid 10th in the Discus.

Brennan McKeag can relate. He also competed in two events, finishing fourth in the Shot Put (52-08.25) and eighth in the Hammer (181-01) at Augustana. Only 20 men's competitors are chosen for in individual events. McKeag is also close to the bubble to making the field in the Shot. Going into this weekend, he sat 17th overall. In the Hammer, his chances are fairly secure with a ninth place standing.

Andrew Schlichting finished 13th at Augustana (172-10).

The NCAA field will be announced May 20.
