Men's Tennis Ends Season On Up Note

Bernard Mitambo ended 2012 as he began it -- on a winning note. Fortunately, he had company. Mitambo and David Croonquist registered singles wins and teamed up for a doubles triumph as Hamline's men's tennis team wrapped up 2012 with a solid 7-2 win over Concordia in Fargo Saturday. The Pipers end the season with a 7-10 overall mark, 2-7 in MIAC play. Mitambo, who went 13-3 in singles play this year, won at No. 2 singles in straight sets. Croonquist ended the year at an even 6-6 with an equally impressive win at No. 1 singles. The two then paired up for an 8-45 win at No. 1 doubles.

Their effort was matched by Andrew Lutz and Sam Teitelbaum, who won at Nos. 3 and 5 singles and then teamed up for an 9-7 doubles win. Derek Lutz also had a singles victory.

In all, HU won five of the six singles matches and two of three doubles affairs in one of their best efforts of the year.
