Hamline's women's tennis team went from the frying pan Friday (against up-and-comer St. Catherine) to the fire Saturday at Holt Courts. Gustavus, a perennial tennis power, dropped the Pipers, 9-0. Katie Tarnowski put up the stiffest resistance at No. 3 singles, losing her first set by 6-3 before falling in the second, 6-0. Cassie Wallerich was the only other singles player to gain more than one set, losing at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Wallerich and Nicole Krier also grabbed a pair of games in No. 1 doubles in an 8-2 loss.
Hamline fell to 0-13 overall, 0-6 in the MIAC. They return to action next Saturday at Macalester.
