Bethany Hine, Lauren Turitto and Jenna Dushaw had good hitting days but Hamline's softball team had a tough time in the field in a doubleheader loss to a powerful UW-River Falls. The untimely errors led to several unearned runs as Hamline lost both ends of the Meredith Field twinbill, 12-0 and 20-4.
Hine excelled in the opener with two singles and a double -but WRF used a six-run first inning to build a cushion for the win. In the second game, Turitto lined her second home run of the season and Dushaw added two hits and two RBI. But the Falcons came out swinging again and took advantage of four opening inning errors to pour in 13 runs.
Hamline is 1-21 overall and will head north to Moorhead to face Concordia Wednesday afternoon in a MIAC doubleheader that will begin at 3:30 p.m. The Pipers return home Saturday to face Macalester at Meredith Field. The double dip begins at 1:00 p.m.
