It is tough enough to play the No. 10 rated team in the country on their court. Add to the mixture that it was HU's second match in 24 hours and you had a recipe for trouble. And that is what the Pipers ran into as the Knights dealt them an 8-1 setback. Hamline fell to 5-7 overall, 0-4 in the MIAC.
Things went so roughly that Bernard Mitambo saw his nine-match singles streak end with a three-set defeat. The final game was an exhausting 9-11 affair.
Mitambo and Andrew Lutz salvaged some of the day for HU with a 9-8 win in doubles.
HU returns to action April 3 against St. Olaf at home. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
