Doubles Trouble Plague Men's Tennis Team

It was a case of doubles trouble for the HU men's tennis team Friday. The Pipers won four singles matches but lost all three doubles affairs ... including two by agonizing 9-7 counts ... in a 5-4 loss to St. Mary's Friday afternoon at home.

Bernard Mitambo moved up to No. 1 singles and won his eighth match in a row, rallying for a three-set win. Andrew and Derek Lutz also won their singles engagements as did Sam Gullickson, who was making his HU debut at No. 5 singles. But the Pipers couldn't overcome an early 0-3 hole caused by the doubles setbacks.

Hamline fell to 5-6 overall, 0-3 in the MIAC.

The Pipers have little time to bemoan their fate. They play at Carleton (12-3, 2-0 MIAC) Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
