There's no place like ... Orlando, Florida? Well, HU men's tennis coach Jon Henning and his team might think so. The Pipers finished off a 4-1 week there with a 5-4 win over Wis-Oshkosh Thursday afternoon. A string of singles victories proved to be the key as Hamline evened its overall mark at 5-5.
Bernard Mitambo won his seventh straight match at No. 3 singles with a solid 6-3, 6-0 win. Mitambo is now 8-2 in singles competitions this season. Sam Teitelbaum squeaked out an 8-6 tiebreaker to win his first 7-=6 and then smashed his way to a 6-2 win in the second set for the win at No. 3 singles. Andrew Lutz fought his way to a 7-5 win to open his match at No. 4 singles. The second set was a 6-0 rout. Derek Lutz jumped to a quick lead and won at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
Mitambo and Andrew Lutz made their first partnership of the year at doubles a successful one with an 8-4 victory.
The Pipers return to St. Paul to open their home schedule March 30 against St. Mary's. the match begins at 4:00 p.m.
