The Piper men's tennis team doesn't need to go to Disneyland this week. They had their own fairy tale ending Sunday. Hamline opened a week in Orlando, Fla. with a 7-2 win over Colorado College. As it turned out, it was the Pipers' ability to win the tight ones that made the difference. David Croonquist and Robert Becker started it with a tight 8-6 win in doubles. Later, Andrew Lutz and Brendan FitzPatrick won a tiebreaker, 7-5, to take their doubles match, 9-8.

Hamline won five of the singles matches, several of which were quite close. Croonquist won a tiebreaker in his first set. The second set was up for grabs when his opponent was forced to default, giving Croonquist the win. Lutz rallied from a 1-6 loss in his first set to take two in a row, winning the titanic third tilt, 10-3. Derek Lutz then split a pair of 6-4 decisions and battled to a 10-8 decision to win his match. Sam Teitelbaum also had a successful tight squeeze, winning 7-6, 6-4. Only Bernard Mitambo rolled, winning his match, 6-1,6-2.

The Pipers are now 2-4 overall. They face Oglethorpe (GA) Monday.
