On Saturday, March 10, 2012, the Hamline University Model United Nations team participated in a day-long model United Nations practice session at the University of St. Catherine. The four college practice session was established about ten years ago by professors Karen Vogel, Hamline University, and Joe Underhill, Augsburg College. Participating institutions include: Hamline University, Univeristy of St. Catherine,
Macalester, and Augsburg.
The session allows students on model UN teams at the Associated College of the Twin Cities (ACTC) colleges to prepare for participation at the National Model United Nations Conference in New York. Each year the mock sessions are held at a different ACTC school. Students attending the session practice using parliamentary procedure, making speeches, working in groups, and
engaging in agenda setting and resolution writing exercises. Members of the 2012 Hamline University Model UN team are: Sarah Gengler (head delegate), Joe Sathe (president), and team members Ruby Drew, Kristin Decker, Heidi Fahning, Rachel Johnson, Eleanna Mathioudos, Peter Fischer, Georgia Patrascu, Pat Savage, Ben Surma, Robyn Sellman, Emily Richey, and Anne Marie Sketch. This year's National Model UN Conference will take place March 29 - April 6, 2012.
