Women's Hockey Loses Finale At St. Thomas

Erin Kastner scored in the second period but it wasn't enough as Hamline's women's team lost their season finale at St. Thomas, 5-1. Sarah Schneekloth had 31 saves for the Pipers, who finish 2011-12 with twice as many wins as they had in coach Steve DeBus' first season. HU finished 8-15-2 overall, 4-12-2 in the MIAC.

On Saturday, they gave uo the first two goals before Kastner took a pass from Jordan Verleye  at 11:47 of the middle frame. But UST scored late in that period and added two in the final session.  After getting just nine shots on goal on Friday, HU fired 27 on Saturday. "We played well today," said DeBus. "We made strides this year. We're getting better."
