On a night when both teams were cold from the field, Hamline's women BB team warmed up at the Free Throw Line just in time. The Pipers' last seven points of the night came from the charity stripe in a dogged 51-47 win at Carleton. The victory gave Hamline a sweep of the series with the Knights for the first time since the 1996-97 season.
Jordan Sammons scored 15 points and a team high nine rebounds. Kara Poirier converted all five free throw tries as part of a 12-point, six rebound performance. Je'Naya Brown recorded a season high eight rebounds as part of Hamline's 45-43 edge on the glass.
HU led 21-18 at halftime. Carleton crept ahead in the second half, upping the lead to 38-32 with eight minutes left. The Pipers responded with nine unanswered points, including Poirier's only 3-pointer of the night for a 41-38 lead and never trailed again.
Hamline improved to 7-15 overall, 6-13 in the MIAC. They play at Bethel Saturday.
