Schneekloth Stops 60 in 2-1 Loss At Gustavus

Much to the Hamline women's hockey team chagrin, history repeated itself Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Rink. The Pipers got another astonishing goaltending effort but came out on the short end of a one goal decision to the undefeated league leader Gusties, this time by the count of 2-1.

Sarah Schneekloth topped Nicole Jones' Friday effort by a pair, recording 60 saves, 47 of which came in the first two periods. It is believed to be only the second time in school history a goalie has recorded 60 saves. (The school record is 69.)

Schneekloth moved up to third place in the league in Save Percentage with a .935 mark. The leader? Jones at .950.

As happened on Friday, the Gusties scored early in the first period. This time, the Pipers took until halfway through the game to respond. Haley Johnson scored for the second game in a row on an unassisted effort. Gustavus untied the game 3:15 into the third period and then had to hold off a pair of Piper power opportunities in the final 10 minutes to earn the win.

Hamline is now 8-9-2 overall, 4-7-1 in the MIAC. They play next weekend at Concordia.
