The Hamline women’s tennis
team has taken a different shape in 2012. These women are poised to do what it
takes both on and off the court to be successful. They have a wonderful
attitude, an outstanding work ethic, and take pride in their mental toughness.
Says Coach Jon Henning: "I am extremely excited to see
the dedication that is present in the beginning of the 2012 season for the
Hamline women’s tennis team. There are two big holes needed to be filled by the
graduation of Co-captains Kristen Kiemele and Kelsey Eatherton. There to step
into leadership roles this year are Nicole
Krier (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) and Anna
Yarbrough (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.). They both have made some serious
strides in their game in the off-season and will be ready to play the top two
spots for Hamline. Tizzie Allen (Jr.,
Menasha, Wisc.), Carissa Wallerich
(So., West Salem, Wisc.), and Leeanna
Manthe (So., Elko, Minn.) all return as well with MIAC match experience are
looking to improve this year and be contributors in the lineup."
Newcomers Katie Tarnowski (Fr., Duluth, Minn.)
and Angie Seubert (Fr., Marshfield,
Minn.) look to make an immediate impact on the court in both the singles and
doubles lineup.
The Hamline women’s tennis
team this year will rely on youth and athletic ability to win points. As a team
and individually, they will strive to improve their own games as well as get
better collectively as a whole in 2012.
