It didn't take long for Hamline's indoor track and field team to make a good early impression. Brenna Coyle, a senior from Lindstrom, Minn. and Shaise Schuette, a junior from Anoka, Minn. have been named by the MIAC as the inaugural Indoor Field Athletes Of The Week. Both had personal records in winning performances last Saturday at the St. Olaf Triangular.
Coyle is currently No. 3 in the country in the Weight Throw. She won at Northfield with an effort of 17.21 meters (56-5.75 feet). That was nearly 2 1/2 meters better than teammate Becky Culp, who finished in second place. Schuette currently is No. 8 in Division III in the Pole Vault. His 4.79 meter effort Saturday (15.85 feet) gave him a win by a solid margin of nearly half a meter. It is the third time Brenna has earned this honor.
The Pipers are off this week. They resume competition next weekend.
