Benson Wins All-Around At Winona State Invitational

Thomas Paine never met Courtney Benson. Benson proved Paine's old adage "You can't go home again" doesn't apply to gymnastics. The Winona native took center stage at the Winona State Invitational Saturday night, winning the All-Around Title at the Winona State Invitational Saturday night. Benson won the Floor Exercise, was second in the Balance Beam and third in the Vault. Her total of 36.950 edged UW-Stout Katherine Prouty for the crown. In addition to Benson, HU got solid efforts from Summer Haag, who was fourth in the Uneven Parallel bars and fifth in the Vault. Murielle Mischook was seventh in the Balance Beam and Floor Exercise.

As a team, HU finished third with 174.725. UW-Stout won the triangular with 178.975 and Winona State was second at 177.050.
