Second Half Spurt Sinks Pipers

For 20 minutes, Hamline went toe-to-toe with Concordia at Hutton Arena Wednesday night. They held the Cobbers to just 29 per cent from the field and trailed by only 30-28 at intermission. But the Cobbers caught fire at the start of the second session and went off on a 18-2 run that dashed Hamline's hopes to remain undefeated at home. The Pipers made a late run but fell, 67-59. HU now stands 4-8 overall, 3-6 in the MIAC.

Jordan Sammons led with 18 points, seven rebounds and six steals and Steph Pilgrim added 13 points.  The Pipers' defense harassed the Cobbers into 21 turnovers. But CC shot 50 per cent from the field in the second half and  outrebounded HU, 51-34 for the game. HU had to resort to long-distance shooting, making just seven of 25 three-point tries.

Hamline stays home to face Bethel Saturday. That game time has been moved up to 1:00 p.m.
