Men's Hockey Look To Rebound Today against Connecticut College

The HU men's hockey team gets one more chance to end 2011 on an up note. They will face Connecticut College today in the third place game of the Pathfinder Bank/SUNY-Oswego Tournament in Oswego, NY. Game time is 12:00 p.m. CST.

It took a while for Hamline's men's hockey team to find its legs Friday in the opening round . The Pipers rallied twice against Neumann, the No. 11 team in the country. But a goal with three minutes left spelled the difference in a 5-3 loss. HU fell to 5-8 overall on the season. The Camels lost to host Oswego State, the number two team in the country, 5-1.

Senior goalie Beau Christian was tested from the get-go against the Knights.. HU was outshot 15-5 in the first period and trailed 2-0. Jordan Van Gilder started the comeback with his 4th goal of the year 8:43 into the second period, finishing off a play with  Danny Muck, who had three assists and Sam Leslie. Muck and Zach Johnson setup Leslie for his 5th of the season at 18:55 to even matters at 2 after two periods.

Neumann went ahead midway through the third period only to see Muck and Troy Hesketh work the puck to Johnson for his 6th of the year to tie it at 3. However, the easterns scored at 17:00 and hit the empty net in the final minute to settle the issue. Christian ended up with 30 saves but was saddled with the loss.
