Piper Men Win, 4-3

\Cory Belisle scored two goals and set up the winning tally as Hamline's men's hockey team bounced back from its first conference setback of the season for a hard-fought 4-3 win over St. Olaf Saturday. Belisle opened the scoring 9:05 into the game on a feed from Sam Leslie.  Brian Arrigoni and Belisle scored 62 seconds apart in the second period and it appeared the Pipers were going to pull away to an easy victory.

But the Oles rallied for two goals against Beau Christian, who ended the night with 26 saves, before the end of the second period to make it 3-2. At 2:56 of the third, Belisle forced his way into the zone and took a shot that was partially stopped. Austin Cihak swooped in and pushed the rebound home for what proved to be the winning goal.

The noisy game featured 17 penalties for 53 minutes. The Pipers killed off a 90-second two-man disadvantage in the first period and the Oles had to kill off a major penalty.

In the end, Hamline prevailed for its second win without a loss at home and upped its record to 5-3-0 overall, 3-1-0 in the MIAC.

The game at Vadnais Sports Center started 15 minutes later than originally scheduled. The game started at 7:15 p.m. instead of 7:00 p.m. The delay was due to the fact the teams had trouble getting to the arena due to road conditions caused by Saturday's snow and icy conditions.

The Pipers now get a week off to relish the win. They return to action Dec. 2 against Bethel at home.
