The toughest part of Saturday's 2011 football finale against St. John's at Klas Field may occur long before the opening kickoff. It's Senior Day Saturday. 20 minutes prior to the kickoff, HU Head Coach John Pate and Athletic Director Bob Beeman will publicly thank the 15 seniors playing their last game for the Pipers. The seniors and their parents will be honored on the field before the crowd on what is expected to be a beautiful day for football. All are expected to see action as the Pipers (0-9, 0-7) take on a Saint John's team looking to stay above .500.
Kickoff at Klas Field is 1:00 p.m. The Pipers played very well defensively most of the way last Saturday before giving way late in a 33-6 loss at Bethel. HU took the early lead when Nate Sarrazin recovered a fumble and rumbled 69 yards for a TD. The Royals, clinging to a possible NCAA playoff spot, rallied to lead 13-6 at the half. It stayed that way until late in the third quarter when the Royals scored again. They added two fourth quarter scores to put the game away.
The Pipers will be fighting history. They trail the all-time series with the Johnnies, 23-54-3.
Saturday, however, is about the seniors. Here is the group that will be honored before the game:
Tim Queck (Annandale, Minn.) , Adam Meyer (Cold Spring, Minn.) , Connor
