Men's Hockey team 10th in USCHO Preseason Poll

They haven't even hit the ice but the Hamline men's hockey team is already drawing respect. When new head coach Scott Steffen greets his troops for their first practice Saturday, he will tell them they already have the respect of the USCHO.com voters. The Pipers are ranked 10th in the preseason poll, the only MIAC team to be so noted.

The defending MIAC champs finished with a 17-7-5 overall mark, falling to St. Norbert's in the NCAA quarterfinals at the latter's home rink. With a solid mix of returnees plus a slew of fresh faces, HU will hit the ice Saturday for the first time. They have two weeks to get ready for their first game, October 29 against Bethel as part of the MIAC Showcase in Blaine, Minn.
