Pipers Blanked At Wartburg, 4-0

The Pipers men soccer's team fired off 10 shots Sunday afternoon at Wartburg. But Knight goalie Cade Shatzer was tough to handle. And, when Wartburg scored twice in 50 seconds midway through the first half, HU was in a hole that was hard to climb out of.

Wartburg went on to defeat the Pipers, 4-0, despite the fact that HU goalie Spencer Von Behren (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) had eight saves, seven of which came in the second half.

Hamline held a 6-5 edge in total shots at halftime. But the Knights scored at 19:05 and 19:55 to go in with a 2-0 advantage. They added two more goals 10 minutes apart in the second half to put the game away.

HU is now 2-6-2 overall on the season. They have two chances this week to improve on their 0-2-2 MIAC mark. Wednesday, Hamline plays at St. Thomas in a 4:00 p.m. affair. Next Saturday, they return to Paterson Field for a 1:00 p.m. game with St. Mary's.
