Good things come to those who wait. It took a while but nearly every player on Hamline's volleyball team had a key role in working past the host University of Dubuque Friday night for a come-from-behind 3-2 victory. The scores were 22-25, 31-29, 23-25, 25-20, 15-7. Sam Greeney-Hamlin (So., St. Cloud, Minn.) led a balanced Piper attacks with 17 kills. Frankie Miller (Fy., Grand Island, Neb.) had 12 kills and 13 digs. Karley Killian (Fy., St. Michael, Minn.) and Stephanie Kaup (Fy., Chandler, Ariz.) had 11 kills each. Lacy Koss (Fy., Dodger Center, Minn.) had 19 kills as part of a season high total of 85. Sammie Miller (Fy., Grand Island, Neb.) had a season high 51 assists.
Down 2-1, HU rallied to win Game 4 and had a .500 attack percentage in taking the deciding game. The win ended the Pipers' losing streak at five games and improved their record to 7-11 overall. HU will face Clarke and Coe Saturday at Dubuque.
The dramatic win allowed the Pipers to quickly forget a 3-0 loss to UW-Superior earlier in the day. The match was much closer than the final score indicated. All three games against the Yellowjackets were close. The Pipers dropped the first two sets by 23-25 scores and fell in the finale 19-25. Paige Walters (Fy., Nevis, Minn.) had eight kills for the Pipers. Sammie Miller contributed 31 assists.
