Volleyballers Come Up Short To Wildcats

Despite a solid start, the Piper volleyballers lost to St. Catherine's, 3-0, Wednesday at Butler Center. Thanks in part to Sam Greeney-Hamlin (So., Saint Cloud, Minn.), who had eight kills and hit .412 for the night, HU chased the Wildcats all over the place in game 1 but ended up falling, 22-25. The Wildcats, who are now a surprising 13-3, went on to take the next two games as well, 16-25, 14-25. They finished with a .284 hitting percentage for the night.

Hamline fell to 6-10 on the season, 0-4 in the MIAC.

Greeney-Hamlin,  the only non-first year player on the team, led with those eight kills. Mackenzie Remick (Fy., Prior lake, Minn.) and Paige Walters (Fy., Nevin, Minn.) added six kills each. Lynsey Reimer (Fy., Peosta, Iowa) had a career best 14 digs.

Hamline will now take a week-long break from conference play. They will play four non-conference matches in a tournament in Dubuque, Iowa this weekend. Next Tuesday, they visit Minneapolis for a match at North Central. They return to MIAC play October 7 at Carleton. Bethel visits Hutton Arena on October 8 at 3:00 p.m.
