The Piper volleyball ... and most notably Dani Schultz, came out firing Saturday at the UW-River Falls Invitational. Hamline split their two contest, defeating UW-Stout, 3-0 before dropping a 3-1 decision to Waldorf. Schultz (Fy., Eden Prairie, Minn.) was named to the All-Tournament team for her body of work on the weekend. She had 33 kills in three contests. Her overall total of 111 ranks second on the team.
The Pipers jumped on the Blue Devils early and often for the sweep, winning 25-17, 25-17, 25-22. Frankie Miller (Fy., Grand Island. Neb.) was the top gun with a dozen kills. Schultz added nine. HU was sharp all morning, committing just 10 attack errors in the three games here.

In the second match of the day, Schultz was in good form as she and Sam Greeney-Hamlin (So., St. Cloud, Minn,), the lone non-first-year player on the team, each recorded 14 kills against Waldorf. Sammie Miller (Fy., Grand Island, Neb.) had 36 assists. Brittany Bredemus (Fy., Andover, Minn.) and Karley Kilian (Fy., St. Michael, Minn.) had 15 digs apiece. The Pipers held close the first two games, falling 19-25 and 23-25. They came out with a vengeance in the third game for a 25-13 win but dropped a tough fourth affair, 23-25.
Hamline is 6-7 overall. They return to MIAC play next week with home matches against St. Benedict (Sept. 21) and St. Olaf (Sept. 24).
