The Hamline women's soccer team took an unusual route to keep its record-breaking start of the season streak alive. Goalie Liz Stock (Sr., Savage, Minn.) handled all seven shots sent her way as the Pipers battled Concordia to a 0-0 tie at Paterson Field Wednesday. It was the MIAC opener for both schools. Hamline is now 4-0-1 overall, extending its record for the best break form the gate in school history.
It was first scoreless tie since September 30, 2009 when the Pipers and St. Catherine's exchanged zeroes.
Both teams came in boasting high-powered offenses. But neither team could penetrate the other team's defense for long. It was a tightly played game all the way with nearly as many combined offsides (5) as fouls (7).Stock, playing her first complete game of the season, was strong all 110 minutes, stopping one shot in each of the two extra sessions. Stock has not allowed a goal in 290 minutes of action this season.
In this hot streak, HU has allowed just one goal and has a microscopic 0.19 GAA for the season.
Hamline now heads away from Paterson Field for its next four games. First up: an 11:00 a.m. game Saturday at Bethel.
