Hollinger helps to boot Falcons, 2-1

Heather Hollinger is small in stature at 4-11. But she sure stood tall Wednesday afternoon. The Las Vegas, Nev. sophomore scored two second half goals as Hamline broke to a 3-0 start in women's soccer for the first time since 2007 with a 2-1 victory over UW-River Falls. The Pipers will try for their fourth victory in a row Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Paterson Field against UW-Platteville.

After a scoreless first half, Hollinger headed in a cross pass from Kelsey Caracciolo (Jr., Belgrade, Mont.) to open the scoring at 54:05. Four minutes later, Jordan Sammons (Fr., Apple Valley, Minn.) fed Hollinger perfectly and it was 2-0.

The Falcons finally got one past goalie Erin Urbanowicz (Fy., Gresham, Ore.) with three seconds remaining to end the scoring. Urbanowicz recorded three saves in the second half to earn the win. Liz Stock (Sr., Savage, Minn.)  was superb in goal in the first half with six saves.
