Talk about making a great first impression. Mackenzie Remick, a first-year player , was named to the all-tournament team at last week's St. Olaf Invitational. The Prior Lake native had a big weekend as RS as the Pipers went 2-2. Remick ended the weekend with 31 kills, five service aces and five blocks. "Mackenzie really stepped up big," said coach Audrey Ludwig. "We're looking to her as one of our 'go-to' players."
Remick is part of the talented class of a dozen first-year players on the Pipers, who open their home season Wednesday night against Bethany Lutheran. HU defeated BLC, 3-1, in their season opener last Thursday in Northfield.
After the Vikings' match, the Pipers head back on the road for a quartet of contests this weekend at the North Park (Ill.) Tournament. HU will face four Illinois-based schools. The conference opener is Wednesday, September 13 at Concordia.
