Men's Soccer Team Having Good Training Camp

It was only a scrimmage. So the goals scored by Greg Northrop and Tyler Tallaksen won't officially go into the books. But head coach Jon Lowery was quite happy with his team's effort in the August 23 scrimmage against Dakota County Technical College. "It was a good preseason scrimmage. We learned a lot about ourselves," Lowery said. "We have some work to do on both sides of the ball but we are pleased with the result."

The Pipers will have one more  preseason tuneup before the 2011 season begins-- a scrimmage with the U of Minnesota Saturday, August 27 at Paterson Field at 3:30 p.m. Next week, HU opens the season on the road with a pair of games in Delaware, Ohio. On September 2, they face Hiram College. The next night, they face Ohio Wesleyan, a team that went 19-2-2 last season, advancing to the NCAA D-III quarterfinals. "We're jumping right into it feet first," Lowery said. "They will be tough tests for us."
