Brennan McKeag added another All-American honor to his collection as he
placed eighth in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division III outdoor track
and field championships in Ohio.
During the 2011 indoor season, McKeag was an All-American in the shot put.
On the opening day of the 2011 outdoor championships, McKeag threw 57.37 meters (188-03) to place eighth. The top eight finishers in each event are All-Americans.
McKeag earned his eighth place finish with a little bit of drama. After fouling on his first two attempts in the opening round, he needed a strong throw on his third attempt to qualify for the finals. His final throw not only took him into the finals but was ultimately his All-American throw.
On Friday, McKeag was just an inch shy of becoming a three-time All-American, as he finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 16.76 meters (55-00.00).
