The Pipers end the season with an overall record of 29-15. The win total betters the previous school record of 26 by three wins, and the Pipers won their debut game in their first-ever appearance at the NCAA tournament.
The game started with three scoreless innings before each team scored a run in the fourth, each team doing so with a pair of hits. For Hamline, it was Ryan Hackel with the RBI single that scored J.D. Modrynski.
The Warhawks went on to score a run in the sixth, two in the eighth inning, and a final run in the ninth.
Hamline staged a rally attempt in the eighth, loading the bases with two outs after singles from Ben Richardson, Modrynski, and Cory Miller. However, Whitewater went to the bullpen and tallied a strikeout to end the inning and protect their lead.
Starter Dylan Olson threw seven and one-thirds innings, taking the loss for the Pipers. He struck out five batters and didn't give up a walk.
