Brennan McKeag had a strong showing at the MIAC outdoor track and field championships and was named the outstanding field athlete of the meet, the MIAC office announced on Wednesday.
McKeag hit a pair of NCAA Division III provisional qualifying marks en route to a pair of top-three finishes and an individual title Saturday at Gustavus. His finishes helped the Pipers finish second in the team standings.
He won the shot put championship with a provisional mark of 53-04.5 (16.27 meters). He added a third-place finish in the hammer throw while also meeting the provisional mark with distance of 191-06.00 (58.37 meters).
