Bethany Hine and Lauren Turitto combined for 10 RBIs in the pair of games shortened to five innings as the Hamline University softball team took a 14-6 and 9-0 road sweep over Macalester College.
Hine was 6-for-8 at the plate over the course of the afternoon, scoring three runs and driving in six. She had a pair of triples in the games. Turitto, tallied four RBIs on a grand slam in the opening game as she was 3-for-6 at the plate in the two games.
Hamline improves to 16-16, 10-8 MIAC with the pair of wins. They will host St. Catherine on Monday, May 2, at 4:00 p.m. in a double-header that was originally scheduled for, but was rained out, Saturday.Game 1 box score

Despite the cold weather, the Pipers started out on fire, putting seven runs on the board in the first inning of the opener.
Hine's first hit of the day was the first at-bat of the day as she singled to start things off. Starting pitcher Kelsey Tacheny then helped out her team offensively with a double to plate Hine.
Hamline then loaded the bases and with one swing, Lauren Turitto upped Hamline's lead to 5-0 and she knocked a grand slam homer over the center field fence.
Hine finished off the scoring inning by driving in the final two runs with a triple to left center.
After that, the Pipers tallied two in the third with two hits and a trio of Macalester errors. They added four in the fourth inning, with another RBI triple from Hine getting the scoring going in that frame.
Tacheny then had an RBI ground out before Heidi Larsen and Erin Farley hit back-to-back solo homers.
The Pipers' final run of the game came in the fifth on an RBI single from Kara Porier.
The Scots scored a run in the third, and another in the fourth, before putting together a four-run fifth. They couldn't get any closer than the eight-run gap to avoid the shortened game.
Tacheny threw a complete game for the win, striking out three batters.

Hamline was held scoreless in the first inning of the second game, but after that put three runs on the board in each of the next three innings.
Tacheny started game two, and threw four innings, combining with Brianna Vela for the shutout on the rubber.
In the second, Laura Randall scored on an error before a single through the left side by Hine scored two more runners.
Hamline used four hits in the third to score, as Jackie Brigl, Lori Moldan, and Hine all hit RBI singles to manufacture runs.
The Pipers final three runs also came on RBI singles as Farley drove in a run and Lauren Clouston knocked in two.
Hine and Farley were each 2-for-3 at the plate in the second game.
