A seven-game win streak for the Hamline University softball team came to an end on Saturday in Winona as Saint Mary's University took both games of the MIAC double-header, 4-1 and 7-0.
The losses drop the Pipers to 14-15, 8-7 MIAC while the Cardinals improve to 17-13, 10-6. Hamline will next play on Thursday, April 26, at Macalester. The double-header is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.Game 1 Box Score

The Cardinals opened up the double-header with their first run in the opening inning. A pair of two-out singles followed by a Piper error drove in the first run.
In the second, Saint Mary's added three runs to the board with four hits and a pair of Piper errors.
Hamline's lone run of the day came in the third inning. Bethany Hine hit a lead-off single and scored on an RBI single by Erin Farley to left field.
Kelsey Tacheny struck out a pair of batters en route to taking the loss in the game. Hine was 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Pipers.Game 2 Box Score

In the second game, Cardinals' starter Kayla Peterson threw five innings to get the win as Angie Bates closed out the game to combine for the shutout of the Pipers.
Saint Mary's scored six of their runs in the fourth and fifth innings, plating three in each inning. All three of the Pipers' errors came in the fifth inning.
Tacheny threw three and two-thirds innings, taking the loss in the second game, dropping her overall record to 10-7. Heidi Larsen was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Pipers.
