Coyle puts together NCAA provo performance at Carleton

Hamline University thrower Brenna Coyle hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark as the track and field team competed at Carleton on Friday night.

Hamline had an NCAA provo mark hit in the weight throw as Brenna Coyle (Jr., Lindstrom, Minn.) won the event with a throw of 52-11 (16.13 meters).

Robyn Wernberg (Sr., Brainerd, Minn.) then finished second with a throw of 48-5 1/2 (14.77 meters) and Becky Culp (So., Lino Lakes, Minn.) was third with a toss of 47-1 1/2 (14.36 meters).

Hamline throwers finished one-two in the shot put, led by Culp's put of 40-11 3/4 (12.49 meters). Wernberg was second with a throw of 39-8 3/4 (12.11 meters).

Hamline provided the only runners in the 55-meter dash, led by  Christina Walker (So., Katy, Texas) sprinting to the finish in 7.64. Carly Braun (So., St. Cloud, Minn.) was second in 7.73 and Alana Profit (Fy., Minneapolis, Minn.) was third in 7.92.

Braun then won the 200-meter dash in 28.67while Adri Acosta (Fy., Forest Lake, Minn.) was second 29.11 and Emily Brown-Phillips (Fy., Minneapolis, Minn.) was third in 29.13.

Braun later won the pole vault, clearing 10-2 3/4 (3.12 meters)while Arlene Behling (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) was second, clearing 10-2 3/4 (3.12 meter).

Walker continued the Piper win streak by taking the title in the 300-meter dash in 43.57. Hope Hertz (Fy., Elk River, Minn.) was second in 46.09.

A Piper also finished first in the 1,000-meter run as Kaitlyn Frenchick (Jr., Paynesville, Minn.) crossed the line in 3:11.23.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Kameron Argiannis (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) was the event winner in 9.46 while Mary Peterson (Jr., Nisswa, Minn.) was second in 9.62.    

In the mile run, Jessica Kociscak (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) was second in 5:21.00 and Sara Holland (Sr., Dousman, Wis.) was third in 5:24.80.

Hamline next competes on February 5 at UW-Superior.
