Coyle, Wernberg hit NCAA provo marks in weight throw

Brenna Coyle and Robyn Wernberg turned in strong performances on behalf of the Piper throwers, each with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss at the University of Minnesota on Saturday.

Brenna Coyle (Jr., Lindstrom, Minn.) won the weight throw competition with a toss of 16.53 meters (54-2 3/4) - an NCAA provisional qualifying throw. Robyn Wernberg (Sr., Brainerd, Minn.) also had an NCAA provisional throw as she placed third with a throw of 15.82 meters (51-11).

Wernberg was the top placing Division III competitor in the shot put, and was seventh overall, with a put of 12.33 meters (40-5 1/2). Becky Culp (So., Lino Lakes, Minn.) was next with a throw of 12.31 meters (40-4 3/4).

Kameron Argiannis (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) placed sixth in the 600-meter run in 1:39.15. Emily Brown-Phillips (Fy., Minneapolis, Minn.) was 11th in the same event in 1:44.93.

Katelyn Frenchick (Jr., Paynesville, Minn.) ran to an 11th place finish at the 800-meter distance, finishing in 2:22.93.

In the mile run, Jessica Kociscak (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) was 12th, crossing the line in 5:15.50.

In the 400-meter dash, Christina Walker (So., Katy, Texas) finished 15th in the field in 1:01.27.

Hamline had a pair of runners in the top 15 in the 5000-meter run. Carolyne Bocovich (Jr., Andover, Minn.) was 11th in 19:05.57 and Lauren Howe (Sr., Siren, Wis.) was 13th in 19:18.36.

Natalie Cooper (So., Stillwater, Minn.) cleared 1.4 meters (4-7) to tie for seventh in the high jump. Argiannis was 13th at a height of 1.3 meters (4-3 1/4).
