Junior pitcher Brett Bugielski tallied a win and three saves - all in conference play - to lead the Hamline University baseball team to a 6-1 record and earn the MIAC pitcher of the week honor, the conference office announced today.
Hamline went 6-1 on the week, sweeping Concordia and St. Thomas in MIAC play, defeating North Central in a non-conference game, and splitting with MIAC foe St. Olaf.
Bugielski gave up just three hits (all singles) in seven innings pitched and didn't walk a batter last week. He posted a 0.00 ERA and held his opponents to a .125 batting average.
He threw four innings in relief to get the win against Concordia last Monday to start the week - the appearance in which he gave up the three harmless hits. He struck out five batters in that appearance.
Bugielski then turned around on Tuesday and picked up a pair of saves in a sweep of St. Thomas. He threw a total of 2.1 innings against the Tommies, holding them hitless.
On Sunday, he threw a complete inning to get the save in an extra-innings win at St. Olaf that secured a key MIAC split for the Pipers.
